Helping Your Team Feel the Purpose in Their Work
= TEAM MOTIVATION

Over the past couple of years, people have been reflecting more on their purpose in life. Since most of us spend most of our waking hours during the week at work, it’s only natural that people are also reflecting more on their purpose at work.

Helping others feel a sense of purpose can be a powerful tool for any team, and it doesn’t always get the attention it deserves concerning business success.

Why is this so important?

Purpose is a grand word, but in the end, it’s about helping people see their impact on others and helping them develop a story about why they love what they do. If you keep that in mind and take a personal, authentic, and perpetual approach, you’re likely to find success.

As a leader or manager, guiding and motivating your team is likely to be high on your agenda. Your team members’ motivation and sense of purpose can have an impact on their productivity, the quality of their work, their engagement, morale, and their relationships with others. It is vital, therefore, to create the conditions for motivation.

But it’s not about making elaborate gestures or offering costly incentives. It’s about taking simple steps to create the right conditions for motivation to thrive and tapping into your team members’ individual drivers for motivation.

Achieving this goal, however, requires good communication and alignment between everyone on the team.

All these facts lead us to the next question: How to Inspire a Sense of Purpose in the Workplace?

I want you to think about the following action steps.

Operating with Outdated Leadership Principles: To inspire your team in their journey to find a purpose you have to get rid of all patterns. it is time to put aside the old command/control style of leadership as it simply has no place in the organizations of today.

Empower Every Employee as an Individual: Take care of your people and they will take care of your business. No matter what role your employees have, never forget that they are the backbone of your business. Spending quality time with each and everyone to find out what makes them “tick” can help you help them excel at their jobs.

Exude a Sense of Genuine Care & Empathy: Most organizations are in the people business because it’s your people who are running your business and delivering for your customers. Take care of them in the most genuinely caring and empathetic way, and watch your bottom line soar.

Today’s leaders need to inspire and engage in different ways than they have done in the past. I’m curious to hear what your leadership journey has been like.
